Yerevan, Armenia, was nominated as World Book Capital 2012 on account of the quality and variety of its detailed, realistic, grass-roots program, focusing on universal issues (e.g.: literature and genocide), and linking all the aspects and actors of the book chain.

Note: Yerevan, the 12th Armenian capital in history, became the 12th World Book Capital.
